“To ensure postpartum mothers and their families do not suffer in isolation” 〜Message from the Runner〜

2026.10.27 マドレボニータ

Hello!

Tokyo Marathon 2027 Charity
This is Yamashita, a volunteer staff member for Madre Bonita's public relations team 🌷

At the Tokyo Marathon 2027 Charity, 13 people from Japan and 30 people from overseas will run together as Madre Bonita's charity runners 🏃‍♀️

In preparation for the event in March, we have received messages from our charity runners expressing their thoughts and feelings about participating in the Tokyo Marathon 2027 Charity as Madre Bonita's charity runners 💌

Today, we’re sharing another message we’ve received from one of our charity runners! ✨

The second person we’d like to introduce is Raj, who is joining us from the UK.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Raj and his wife welcomed their second child. Witnessing his wife navigate the uncertainties of raising a child during such an unpredictable time—often feeling overwhelmed by anxiety and loneliness—made Raj realize firsthand just how vital support for new mothers truly is.

We invite you to read the full message from Raj—a husband and father—below. 💐

I am deeply committed to supporting NPO MadreBonita because I have witnessed firsthand the profound, silent toll of postpartum anxiety and isolation.

We are blessed with three children.
Our eldest was born in April 2016, a joyful time where my wife coped wonderfully. However, our second child was born in April 2020, just days into the global lockdown, and our third followed in November 2021.

With no extended family support here in the UK and facing strict COVID-19 regulations, I saw up close how postpartum anxiety took an immense physical and emotional toll on my wife, temporarily halting her successful career for a few years.

Today, she has recovered, is happy, and has returned to her professional work, but I will never forget how devastating that period of isolation was and how desperately structured help was needed.

While I am running to achieve a personal milestone at the Tokyo Marathon, my deepest purpose is to support MadreBonita’s vital 'Postpartum Care Baton System.'

I am personally committed to supporting MadreBonita to ensure that other mothers and families facing these heavy psychological and physical challenges never have to suffer through them alone.

I have personally noticed that, in recent years, there has been an increasing emphasis on the importance of postpartum care.
At the same time, it is also true that many people are so overwhelmed by the demands of life after childbirth—leaving them no time or energy to even learn about the concept or available systems of postpartum care—that they end up pushing themselves to the breaking point.

That is precisely why having family members who understand the anxieties and loneliness that can follow childbirth—and who are there to offer support—is so incredibly important, even if it might sometimes be taken for granted.
Reading Raj’s message and seeing the offer to support the "Postpartum Care Baton" initiative truly warmed my heart as a mother.

Next time, we will continue to introduce messages from runners that we have received at Madre Bonita 💌
Messages from runners are also published on Madre Bonita's official Instagram and Facebook.
Please check them out as well ☺️
