東京マラソン2024チャリティでは、49名のチャリティによる合計525万円のご寄付をいただきました。

難民支援協会は、個別の相談などを通じて、日本に逃れてきた難民の方々が保護され安心して暮らせることを目指しています。

皆さまから頂戴したご寄付により、以下の支援活動を行うことができました。

1. 難民申請に関わる法的支援

難民の定義や制度の説明を行いながら、難民申請書の記入をサポートしています。この申請書は後の入管面接の基礎となる重要な書類で、申請理由をはじめ、学歴や居住歴、日本での生活状況など多岐にわたる内容を含みます。出身国や言語の違いにより、やりとりは複雑ですが、申請者自身が書類の重要性を理解し、自ら記入できるよう支援をしています。

難民認定の結果は、申請書の提出や審査面接の際に弁護士のサポートを受けられるかどうかで大きく影響することがあります。しかし、難民申請の手続きには専門的な知識と経験が必要で、対応できる弁護士は限られています。難民に弁護士を紹介することに加え、法曹関係者向けの勉強会を開いたり、経験のある弁護士と初めて担当する弁護士をつなぐ仕組みをつくったりして支援体制を整えました。

2. 食料や住居、医療など生活支援

日本に入国する難民申請者の多くは頼れる人もなく、所持金もすぐに尽きてしまいます。支援が始まるまでの待機期間が長期化する中で、宿泊先や食料の支援を行いました。単身男性に加え、単身女性や多子世帯、持病や妊娠中など医療支援が必要な人も増えており、多様なニーズに対応しています。

医療支援は重要な役割を果たしており、体調を崩した方や持病・重篤な病気を抱える方に、迅速かつ適切な治療を提供しています。保険がない場合でも、連携医療機関で継続的な診療が可能で、約30人が継続受診することができました。また、妊娠中の相談も多く、出産に向けた医療機関の確保や費用支援などに取り組み、全員が無事に出産できるよう支援し、出産後も継続的なフォローを行いました。

皆さまからご協力いただきました寄付金を通じて、難民の方一人ひとりのニーズにあわせた支援に役立てることができました。

Through the Tokyo Marathon 2024 Charity, we received a total of \5.25 million in donations from 49 Charity Runners.

The Japan Association for Refugees (JAR) aims to ensure that refugees who have fled to Japan can live in safety and with peace of mind through individual consultations and personalized support.
Thanks to your generous contributions, we were able to carry out the following support activities:

1. Legal Support for Refugee Applications

We provide explanations of the refugee definition and related procedures, and assist with completing the refugee application form. This form is a crucial document that forms the basis for interviews with immigration authorities and includes detailed sections such as reasons for applying, educational and residential history, and current life in Japan.
Given the differences in countries of origin and languages, communication can be complex.
However, we support applicants in understanding the importance of the form and filling it out themselves.

The outcome of the refugee application process can vary significantly depending on whether they can receive legal support during document submission and immigration interviews. However, since refugee applications require specialized knowledge and experience, the number of lawyers capable of handling them is limited.
In response, we not only connect refugees with lawyers but also strengthen the support system by organizing training sessions for legal professionals and building networks between experienced lawyers and those new to refugee cases.

2. Daily Life Support: Food, Shelter, and Medical Assistance

Many asylum seekers arriving in Japan have no one to rely on and quickly run out of money. As the waiting period before public support begins grows longer, we provided emergency assistance such as food and accommodation.
In addition to single men, we are seeing increasing needs among single women, families with multiple children, and those with chronic illnesses or pregnancy, requiring medical assistance.

Medical support plays a vital role. We provided swift and appropriate treatment to those who fell ill, had chronic conditions, or were diagnosed with serious illnesses. Even without health insurance, about 30 individuals were able to receive ongoing treatment through partner medical institutions.
We also received continuous consultations from pregnant women. We supported them in securing maternity care and covering medical expenses to ensure safe deliveries, and provided follow-up support after childbirth.

Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to provide tailored support to meet the individual needs of each refugee.
