難民支援協会は、日本に逃れた難民を支援する団体です。

東京にある事務所には、支援を求める難民が毎日訪れています。
冬が近づいても変わらず、多数の方々が扉を叩いています。
衣食住や医療へのアクセスも難しい中、厳しい冬を母国を逃れ遠く離れた地で自ら乗り越えることは、容易ではありません。

来日後ホームレスになって野宿になっている方、保護費を得られず待ち続けている方、体調を崩された方など、日々相談に応え、医/衣食住の提供を行っています。母国から遠く離れた日本で、難民の方々は不安の中におかれています。私たちの支援で、すぐに安定した生活をすることはできません。しかし、少しでも安心をできるよう、日々相談に応えながら、食料や住居の提供や医療へのアクセス、就労の支援などに取り組んでいます。

JARは、一人ひとりへの支援と同時に、難民を受け入れられる社会を目指し、制度の改善に向けても取り組んでいます。

事務所に日々寄せられる難民からの相談の背景には、必ずといっていいほど、一人ひとりの努力ではどうしようもならない、制度上の課題があります。その課題を議員や省庁と共有し、改善を求めていくことも私たちの役割です。支援の経験に基づく、説得力のある働きかけを心がけています。

難民の安心や尊厳を損なう法制度がある限り、私たちの役割は続きます。解決までの道のりは長いですが、諦めずに続けていきます。

The Japan Association for Refugees (JAR) is an organization that supports refugees who have fled to Japan.
At our office in Tokyo, refugees seeking help visit us every single weekday.
Even as winter approaches, many continue to knock on our door.
For those who struggle to access food, shelter, clothing, or medical care, facing a harsh winter in a distant country far from home is anything but easy.

Some become homeless and sleep outdoors after arriving in Japan; others wait for months without receiving public assistance; many suffer from poor health. Every day, we give consultations and provide food, shelter, medical support, and other essential assistance.
In Japan, far from their home countries, refugees live with deep uncertainty. Our support cannot immediately provide complete stability, but we strive to offer even small measures of safety and hope—through daily consultations, food and housing assistance, access to medical care, and employment support.

JAR provides support to each individual, while simultaneously working to improve systems so that this society can become one that accepts refugees.
Behind every consultation we receive, there are almost always systemic barriers that individuals cannot overcome on their own. Sharing these challenges with lawmakers and government ministries—and urging necessary reforms—is also a vital part of our mission.
We aim to speak with conviction grounded in our firsthand experience supporting refugees.
As long as laws and systems exist that undermine the safety and dignity of refugees, our work must continue. The road to solutions is long, but we will not give up.
