悲しみを超えた大切な絆
わたしが東京マラソンチャリティ2026で走る理由



人が走る理由ーそれはランナーの数だけ存在するのかもしれません。その一つ一つは唯一無二 であり、時としてかけがえのない大切な意味を持っています。

今日はアメリカから参加予定のランナー、 Caroline Nevin さんから届いたメッセージをご紹介させて下さい。


The reasons people run—perhaps there are as many as there are runners. Each one is unique and irreplaceable, sometimes holding profoundly important meaning.
Hello. This is the Tokyo Toy Museum / Certified NPO Arts and Play Creation Association.
Today, we would like to share a message received from Caroline Nevin, who is scheduled to participate from the United States.

父が亡くなった後、東京おもちゃ美術館は私にとって希望の光でした。親子が遊びを通して共に 学ぶ姿は、言葉よりも手を通して人生の教訓を教えてくれた父を思い出させました。そして父の通 夜から数日後、2025年に東京マラソンを走る力を私に与えてくれたのです。2026年にこのチャリ ティランに参加することは、父への追悼であると同時に、発見と癒し、そして絆を育む場所を支 える手段でもあります。この想いを胸に走ることは、私にとって深い意味を持つのです。

The Tokyo Toy Museum was a source of light for me after my dad’s passing. Seeing parents and children learn together through play reminded me of my dad, who showed me life’s lessons with his hands more than with words. It also gave me the strength to run Tokyo in 2025, just days after his wake. Running for this charity in 2026 is both a tribute to him and a way to support a place that inspires discovery, healing, and connection. It is deeply meaningful to run with this mission in my heart.

前回の大会直前に、大切なご家族との別れを経験した Caroline さん。生前、お父様は マラソン というCarolineさんの挑戦をとても誇りに思ってくれていたそうです。辛い別れの直後で何度も
キャンセルを考えたそうですが、ふと立ち寄った東京おもちゃ美術館で子どもたちのあふれる笑 顔を目にし、当時「ここ数日で初めて、悲しみ以外の感情を感じた」とおっしゃいます。

Just before the previous tournament, Caroline experienced the loss of a cherished family member. Her father had been immensely proud of her marathon challenge during his lifetime. Though she contemplated cancelling multiple times in the immediate aftermath of this painful farewell, she recalls visiting the Tokyo Toy Museum on a whim and witnessing the children's beaming smiles. At that moment, she says, ‘It was the first time in days I felt anything other than grief.’

Carolineさんにとってマラソンは、大切なお父様との絆を育む場所。そしてその絆は走れば走る ほど、強く確かなものになっていくのかもしれません。そんな Carolineさんの勇気を、私たち東京 おもちゃ美術館は心から応援しています。

For Caroline, the marathon is a place where she nurtures her bond with her beloved father. And perhaps that bond grows stronger and more certain the more she runs. We at the Tokyo Toy Museum wholeheartedly support Caroline's courage.
