東京マラソン2026に、難民支援協会（JAR）から46人のチャリティランナーに出走いただくことになりました。国内26人、海外20人の方々です。
なぜ難民支援協会を選んでくださったか、また、難民や難民支援への想いを聞かせていただきました。今回はその中から、いくつかの素敵な声をご紹介します。

　・ 世界の紛争地域がますます増え、日本で平和に暮らしていることが奇跡のように感じます。チャリティに参加し、そのような日常を奪われてしまった難民の方々が日本で一日も早く安心安全を手に入れるお手伝いをすることで、自分たちの日常に感謝し、これを守る努力を意識していきたいです。　（日本在住者）

　・ 最近、日本が外国人に厳しく寛容ではない社会になりつつあると感じています。マラソンを通じて、日本社会全体で難民の皆さんを支援するという姿勢を広めることの一助となれば幸いです。（日本在住者）

　・ 日本にいる難民に少しでも手を差し伸べられるように、医師として命に分け隔てなく、難民支援を一歩でも前へという──この脚で想いを届けます。（日本在住者）

　・ 米国で移民弁護士として働く中で、人々が安全を見つけ、新しい場所で生活を再建することがいかに困難であるかを日々目の当たりにしています。…日本での難民支援のために東京マラソンを走ることは、私にとって非常に意味深いことです。これは、私がここで関わっている人々の勇気を称える方法であり、その支援を国境を越えて広げる機会です。（米国在住者、翻訳）

　・ 私の両親は、1945年のインドシナ戦争中にラオス経由でタイに移民したベトナムの難民でした。彼らがタイの東北部に到着したばかりの頃、最も過酷な時期について聞かされました。…団体（JAR）のビジョンを読んだとき、「Safety（安全）」と「Dignity（尊厳）」という2つの言葉に強く心を動かされ、寄付プログラムに参加することを決めました。…そしてついに、過去に私の両親が必要としていたように、多様な支援を必要としている難民を支えることができる団体を支援するという、人生の究極の目標を2つとも達成できる大きな機会がここにあると実感しました。（タイ在住者、翻訳）

このように、日本で暮らす難民の方々への想いや、支援活動を行うJARへの温かい応援の気持ちを持ってくださるランナーの皆さんの存在は、私たちにとって大きな励ましです。

大会当日は、日本に逃れてきた難民の方々のために走ってくださるランナーの皆さんを、ボランティアやスタッフが一丸となって全力で応援します！

The Japan Association for Refugees (JAR) will have 46 charity runners participating—26 from Japan and 20 from overseas in the Tokyo Marathon 2026.
We asked them why they chose JAR and about their thoughts on refugees and refugee support. Here are some of the wonderful voices we received.

　・ As conflict zones continue to increase around the world, I feel as if it's a miracle that we can live peacefully here in Japan. By participating in this charity and supporting refugees who have been forced to leave behind their normal lives, I hope to help them find safety and security in Japan as soon as possible. At the same time, I want to deepen my gratitude for the peace we enjoy every day and become more intentional about protecting it. (Resident of Japan, translated)

　・ Recently, I feel that Japan is becoming a less tolerant society toward foreigners. I hope that through the marathon, I can help spread the attitude of supporting refugees throughout Japanese society. (Resident of Japan, translated）

　・ As a doctor committed to valuing every life equally, I run with the hope of bringing refugee support one step forward—so that I can extend even the smallest helping hand to those seeking refuge in Japan. Through these very legs, I carry that hope. (Resident of Japan, translated)

　・ As an immigration attorney in the United States, I witness every day how difficult it can be for people to find safety and start over in a new place. …Running the Tokyo Marathon to support refugees in Japan is deeply meaningful to me. It’s a way to honor the courage of the people I work with here and extend that support beyond borders. (Resident of the U.S.)

　・ My parents was the refugee from Vietnam immigrating to Thailand via Loas during the Indochina war in1945. I was told about their toughest time when they just arrived the northeast of Thailand…I read about the organization’s vision and there were two key words “Safety” and “Dignity” which were so inspired me to participate in the donation program. …Finally I truly realized that this is my great opportunity to achieve both ultimate goals of my life to provide support to the organization that is able to provide supports to the refugees who need variety of assistances as same as my parents needed in the past. The presence of runners who carry such deep compassion for refugees living in Japan, and warm support for the work of JAR, is a tremendous encouragement to us.

On the day of the marathon, our volunteers and staff will come together as one to cheer wholeheartedly for all the runners who are running for refugees who have sought safety in Japan!
