2025年5月、チャリティランナーのご寄付を活用し、ガーナで建設を進めていた診療所がついに完成しました。新しい診療所と開所式の様子、地域の人々の声を紹介します。
In May 2025, thanks to the generous donations from our charity runners, the clinic we had been building in Ghana was finally completed.
We’re excited to share a look at the new clinic, the opening ceremony, and voices from the local community.

東京マラソン2024チャリティの寄付金を活用して建設された新しい診療所です！
New clinic built using donations from the Tokyo Marathon 2024 Charity!

診療所を建設したのは、西アフリカ・ガーナの小さな村「アクルス」です。
アクルス村には小さな診療所はありましたが、一部屋しかなかったために出産に対応できず、村の女性たちは命の危険と隣り合わせの自宅出産をせざるを得ない状況が続いていました。
The clinic was built in a small village called Akrusu in Ghana, West Africa.
While there was a small clinic in Akrusu before, it only had one room and couldn’t support childbirth. As a result, many women in the village had no choice but to give birth at home, often risking their lives.

ミリセントさんも命の危険に怯えながら自宅で出産していた一人でした。
出産時に出血が止まらず怖い思いをしたことや「新しい診療所ができると聞いて本当にうれしい。村の女性たちが安心して赤ちゃんを産める場所ができるなんて…！」と話してくれました。
Millicent was one of the many women who had to give birth at home, constantly fearing for her life.
She shared how she once experienced heavy bleeding during childbirth and was terrified.
“I was so happy when I heard a new clinic was being built,” she said. “I can’t believe there will finally be a safe place in the village where women can give birth with peace of mind!”

2025年5月15日には、地域の保健関係者や村のリーダー、村人たちが集まり、診療所の開所式が行われました。ジョイセフからも事務局長の山口悦子が出席しました。
On May 15, 2025, local health workers, village leaders, and residents gathered for the official opening ceremony of the new clinic.
Etsuko Yamaguchi, Executive Director of JOICFP, also attended the event.

集まった人々の表情には診療所が建ったことへの喜びがあふれていて、今回、村人たちが長い間待ちに待っていた新しい診療所を建設することができて、本当によかったです。
東京マラソン2024チャリティのご支援にあらためて感謝いたします。
The joy on everyone’s faces clearly showed how much this clinic means to the community. It was truly heartwarming to see a long-awaited dream finally come true for the people of Akrusu.
Once again, we sincerely thank everyone who supported us through the Tokyo Marathon 2024 Charity.

アクルス村の診療所は、東京マラソン2024チャリティの寄付の他、ジョイセフが3月の国際女性デーに向けて女性の健康と権利の大切さを伝えるために実施するホワイトリボンランなど、関係大会からのチャリティを活用し建設しました。ご支援いただいたすべてのみなさまに感謝申し上げます。

The clinic in Akrusu Village was built not only with donations from the Tokyo Marathon 2024 Charity, but also with support from related charity events, such as the White Ribbon Run organized by JOICFP around International Women’s Day in March to raise awareness about women’s health and rights.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported us and made this project possible.
